How to Fix GTA Online Connection Issues
Try these steps while waiting for servers to recover.
01
Check Rockstar Service Status
Visit support.rockstargames.com/servicestatus for the official status of all Rockstar services including GTA Online.
02
Restart your router
Power cycle your router for 30 seconds to get a fresh connection and clear any port conflicts.
03
Check NAT type
GTA Online requires Open NAT for reliable sessions. Enable UPnP or forward ports 6672 (UDP), 61455-61458 (UDP/TCP) on your router.
04
Use a wired connection
Switch from Wi-Fi to ethernet. GTA Online is sensitive to packet loss and latency spikes.
05
Clear console cache
PS5: Settings → Storage → Console Storage → System Data. Xbox: hold the power button for 10 seconds for a full power-off.
06
Check for game updates
Rockstar pushes regular updates. An outdated game version will be refused from sessions. Update through your console or the Rockstar Launcher on PC.
Upgrade your connection
A gaming router cuts lag and drops significantly.
